Elevator Renewal

(Fort Leavenworth, KS)

The elevator renewal at Munson Health Center tasked Kirlin Builders and our JV partner Donley Construction to renew three public/staff elevator cars which service all floors of Munson Health Center at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.  In addition to the public elevators, the Donley-Kirlin team renewed one service/dock elevator car and replaced the dock elevator’s original hydraulic piston.

Interior finishes applied to the passenger elevators included stainless steel doors and stainless steel wraparound wall openings on all floors. New floor location indicators and new hall call stations were fitted to completely transform the interior aesthetic. A total replacement of all three passenger cabs and components was also provided as part of the elevator renewal efforts. To keep building staff and visitors unencumbered by our renewal activities, Donley-Kirlin phased the elevator renewal to keep at least two service public elevators available for use at all times.

Electrical, plumbing, and fire suppression improvements were provided as part of the elevator renewal to bring it up to current code. This included improvements like new circuit break disconnect switches and shunt trip operators to the fire alarm and sprinkler lines, new receptacle devices, a new sump pump installed in the elevator pit, and fire alarm interconnections.
